This monotype depicts Saint George slaying the dragon. The story is quite bizarre and very interesting.  The people of Lasia sacrificed 2 sheep a day to appease this dragon who spread plagues and poison. They eventually ran out of sheep and started feeding it children, chosen by lottery. Eventually the king’s daughter was chosen and something had to be done about that!  That’s where St. George comes in…needless to say it has a happy ending.
